australia vs southafrica 3rd t20 match highlights 9 March 2016, australia vs southafrica 3rd t20 match highlights 9 March 2016.South Africa and Australia are involved in a mock drill ahead of the ICC  Twenty20 (T20) World Cup 2016 starting Tuesday. Both these teams are considered as serious contenders for winning the title. The proteas will try to rub off their chokers tag and Australia will go for the kill in a bid to extend their tally of winning the World Cups.

australia vs south africa

South Africa have finally got a spinner who can be useful under Indian conditions in Imran Tahir.  They have got a good chance of in this edition because most of their players have experience of playing in these conditions (IPL) and know how the tracks behave. The series between South Africa and Australia is evenly poised at 1-1, thanks to heroics of David Warner and Glenn Maxwell in the second T20 International series of the ongoing three-match T20I series. Following this, South Africa may want to make some changes in their side for the third and final T20I on 9th March. Darren Lehmann says even though Australia have reached the top of the ICC Rankings for Teams in Test cricket, his side has a lot left to achieve. Australia became world No. 1 after their away series win in New Zealand by a margin of 2-0 last month, and they are likely to stay at the top with lot of T20 cricket lined up in the next few months. Lehmann wants Australia to keep improving, as he believes Australia have selected the bunch of players who will take their team forward after as many as six retirements from the Test side last year, following the horrendous tour of England last year for Ashes 2015.

Team News
South Africa have opted to play AB de Villiers as an opener and the move hasn't paid dividends as yet. Barring a fifty against England, he has registered scores of 7, 0 and 13. With the World T20 round the corner, the ace South African batsmen will be looking to finish off the home season on a high. Hashim Amla hasn't got a look-in as yet and might make it into the team, albielt, as a middle-order batsman, in place of Farhaan Behardien.

Australia have used the series to test their World T20 bound squad and the experimentation might continue, going into the crucial encounter. The entire 15-man team has had at least one opportunity to showcase their skills and with the team winning the high scoring second T20I, their first, since November 2014, Steven Smith might be tempted against making any changes.

Our skill levels have improved, and that was our main focus in the last year-and-a-half. Everyone can bowl at the death and you dont become predictable - Charl Langeveldt, South Africa's bowling coach.
It’s been a difficult time lately for Australia in the Twenty20 arena, but the recent performance in Johannesburg is a welcome sight ahead of the T20 World Cup.

With South Africa setting a target of 205 runs, it was going to take a couple of stunning performances for Australia to level the series.

When you look at the Australian T20 squad there is certainly a variety of talent with both bat and ball, but there are two names that stand out. With Australia 3-32 and looking unlikely to chase the total, in came two of Australia’s x-factors.

David Warner and Glenn Maxwell perhaps haven’t been in the best of form of late, especially when you look at the talent they possess. There’s no denying that if Australia are to put up a serious challenge for the T20 World Cup then these two will have to deliver on a consistent basis.

Cricket Matches Live Cricket Scores Results Fixtures South Africa vs Australia 2016, Cricket Matches Live Cricket Scores Results Fixtures South Africa vs Australia 2016.Top-Order: The Australian top-order did not get off to a good start in the second T20I but Aaron Finch’s explosive abilities with the bat will definitely be much needed when Australia come out to play in the final T20I match of the three-match series.

With David Warner proving his adaptability by going down the order at No. 4, and firing to seal victory for his side, Australia may well have to choose between left-handed Usman Khawaja’s batting potential and Shane Watson’s all-round abilities. Keeping Watson’s experience in mind in terms of his knowledge about  Indian conditions, giving him some time in the middle ahead of the World T20 Championships may be vital. On the contrary, Australia may also go out there with a left-right combination. The sub-continental pitches in India, especially in the hinterland, offers pristine batting conditions but also aids the spinners - one area of concern for both teams. For South Africa, Imran Tahir, has all but nailed his place as the lead spinner while Australia continue to play the 'roulette wheel' as their search for a lead spinner intensifies.

Coming back to the series, Cape Town offers different challenges to that of Johannesburg, the venue of the high scoring second T20I. Unlike the Wanderers, the bowlers will be expected to come into the equation. Newlands offers something for all, as evidenced by a high team score of 188 - by England against Zimbabwe, during the 2007 World T20. The pacers have enjoyed the conditions as well as have the spinners. Overall, the final international match of South Africa's season should be a cracker. The three-match T20 series is level now after Australia completed a brilliant chase in the second T20 at The Wanderers in Johannesburg, Sunday.

South Africa posted a total of 204 runs on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Captain Faf du Plessis played an outstanding innings of 79 runs, which helped his side post such a mammoth total in the second T20 of the series.

But his brilliance was nullified by David Warner and Glenn Maxwell, as the two added a record-breaking 161 runs for the fifth wicket. Later, James Faulkner and Mitchell marsh finished the match off for the Aussies in the last over of the match.

However, Proteas bowling coach Charl Langeveldt, despite the loss in the second T20, is happy with the way his bowlers have bowled.

Langeveldt feels the South Africa bowlers have made progress under him. They are not relying completely on Dale Steyn, which is a good sign.

After a magnificent run chase in the 2nd T20I, Australia will be looking to continue their winning momentum and take the series.

South Africa vs Australia

In what will be the last competitive international match before heading into the ICC World T20 2016 in India, both teams will want to end the series on a high note. Australia need this win more than the South Africans to discover their touch in the format.Eight nations are set to begin their quest for grabbing the final two available spots in the upcoming ICC World T20, scheduled to be held in India. Elsewhere, in the southern tip of Africa, two powerhouses of the game, two teams that are expected to go all the way in the tournament, are giving final touches to their preparations for the mega tournament.

With the series on the line, Australia and South Africa, have one final opportunity to iron out the flaws and arrive at their best-possible combination when they take on each other in the third and final match of the series in Cape Town on Wednesday (March 9).

While winning the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series will be a factor, both teams will keep one eye on the World T20 - which will be played in completely alien conditions. South Africa lock horns with Australia in the third and final T20 of the series in Cape Town, Wednesday.

In the first T20, South Africa got the better of Australia, courtesy a blistering half-century from David Miller during the run chase.

Dilshan enthralled a sparse gathering with a fine knock that revived images of his batting ability. Dilshan gave the Sri Lankan batting stability, by remaining unbeaten on 75 (56 balls). Sri Lanka tried its third captain in the tournament, resting Angelo Mathews, who had stood in for Lasith Malinga, and giving the mantle to Dinesh Chandimal.Though not specialists, these players would make useful contributions whenever the team required of them. But Pakistan still lacked a wicketkeeper who could play solely as a batsman in the team. Around the same time, a trend of sorts was observed with the other major teams as they all had wicketkeepers who were very good — on some occasions, best — batsmen of their sides. Adam Gilchrist for Australia, Kumar Sangakkara for Sri Lanka, MS Dhoni for India, AB de Villiers for South Africa and Brendon McCullum for New Zealand played the said role to perfection.

The 20-year-old found it tough against India, but got back his shape against UAE.

Asia cup 2016

This time it will be no different. Mustafizur's ability to mix up the deliveries alongside his ability to hit consistency, will be important for Bangladesh. Mustafizur will hope to be confident and produce a fine spell. The left-arm pacer holds the key for the Tigers upfront. He will be hoping to get early wickets and fulfill the role like that of Ashish Nehra or Mohammad Amir in the Indian and Pakistan side respectively.

Lasith Malinga (Sri Lanka): Malinga is a world class bowler in the shortest format and showed his brilliance with the ball against UAE. The skipper picked four wickets against the minnows and did what he does best in focussing on bowling full and straight. Malinga's ability to bowl those toe-crushing yorkers will keep the Bangladesh batsman guessing. Malinga will look to get crucial key wickets upfront and use the conditions wisely. A lot will depend on him in order to propel the others in order to chip in as well and a fine start could serve that purpose.Bangladesh lost against India in their opening game and the shoulders of some players dropped after that, but things changed for the hosts as they defeated the UAE quite comprehensively. Bangladesh defeated the UAE by 51 runs, with contributions from Mohammad Mithun, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah on the batting front while all their bowlers performed well.

"Our confidence was slightly shaken after losing the first game, but the win over the UAE will certainly help us get that back. In fact, it will help that we beat them convincingly, especially ahead of the next game against Sri Lanka," ESPN Cricinfo quoted batsman Sabbir Rahman as saying.

Bangladesh have a decent mix of batsmen and bowlers in their team to outshine Sri Lanka, but they need all their top-order to deliver against the Lankan Lions. One of the major concerns for Bangladesh has been the form of Shakib-Al-Hasan, who has just scored just 3 and 13 runs in the competition. Shakib is one of their best players.

However, in the bowling department, Bangladesh have some top players, including Taskin Ahmed and Mashrafe Mortaza as their fast bowlers. With the pitch having assisted seamers in the competition, Bangladesh have other bowlers, such as Mustafizur Rahman, to look to.

These bowlers are going to be tested by Sri Lanka, who have some good batsmen in their line-up, including Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dinesh Chandimal, and Angelo Mathews. Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have enough resources in their ranks to counter it, in the likely situation that the conditions remain the same. Bangladesh's four pacers - Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain - are fast gaining in reputation and will be more than a handful in helpful conditions, as they showed in the game against the United Arab Emirates. Their batting has been the bigger worry with failures in first two games. One of their key members in the unit - Shakib Al Hasan - has a high score of just 20 in his last nine T20I innings. That will be the biggest worry for the skipper. Shakib's failures gain more prominence in the absence of Tamim Iqbal in the line-up. The rest of the batting unit will not find it any easier against Sri Lanka and if Bangladesh are to show any improvement in this format, it is once again Shakib's responsibility to show them the way forward. The think-tank would also be pondering the need to shuffle the batting order a touch to adapt to the conditions. Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim will probably be of more value to them higher up in the order in these conditions. The bowling unit is far more settled and it's unlikely it'll see a change for this game.

West Indies tour of Sri Lanka 2015 live scores results and Highlights

West Indies tour of Sri Lanka 2015 live scores results and Highlights.OLOMBO: Rangana Herath picked up four wickets while spin partner Milinda Siriwardana took three as Sri Lanka defeated West Indies by 72 runs on the fifth day of the second and final Test on Monday to win the series 2-0.

West Indies, who lost the first Test in Galle by an innings and six runs, were all out for 171 in the second session as their wait for a first win in the format in Sri Lanka continues. The tourists made a bright start in their chase of 244 but their hopes of a series-levelling win dimmed after losing three quick wickets to the spinners in the morning, with batting mainstay Darren Bravo (61) the only one to offer some resistance.
"It was a hard-fought win, our bowlers were under constant pressure because our batsmen didn't deliver," Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews said at the presentation. "I never had doubts about my bowlers."Rangana Herath has enough experience... He showed his masterclass at the end."
West Indies resumed on 20-1 after rain washed away the final session on the third day and the entire fourth day's play and looked in firm control of their chase.Shai Hope, who was unbeaten during the weather disruption, and Bravo started positively, taking the attack to the spinners, and added 60 for the second wicket.Mathews turned to all-rounder Siriwardana to break the stand and the left-arm spinner did exactly that by dismissing Hope in his fifth delivery.
Hope danced down the wicket to the bowler but the ball spun enough to beat his bat and resulted in an easy stumping for wicketkeeper Kusal Perera.Out-of-form Marlon Samuels (six) survived several nervous moments before falling to Dilruwan Perera with Mathews completing a sharp catch at slip.
Siriwardana, who was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance, claimed his second wicket when Jermaine Blackwood (four) was out leg before with West Indies quickly slumping from 80-1 to 102-4.
Blackwood challenged the umpire's decision but failed to overturn the decision.
Left-hander Bravo handled the spinners well with some positive footwork and completed his 13th fifty in Tests with three fours and two sixes.
Herath, who was targeted by Bravo and hit for two consecutive sixes, got in on the act after lunch by dismissing wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin (10) and Bravo in the same over to banish any hopes of a West Indies victory.
"As a spinner and a bowler, we got to take responsibility," Herath said after being adjudged the man of the series for his 15 wickets in two Tests.
The tourists, who resumed on 20-1 chasing a victory target of 244, were shot out for 171 in the post-lunch session of the final day’s play at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.
“We fell short. We didn’t bat well in the second innings,” West Indies skipper Jason Holder said. “Whenever we came under pressure from the Sri Lankan bowlers we succumbed. But there is a lot we can take away from the series. We are a young team and we have a lot to learn.”
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews said he never doubted his bowlers’ ability to clinch a victory. “It was a hard-fought win,” Mathews said. “The pressure was on our bowlers because our batsmen did not deliver. I never had any doubts about my bowlers even when the West Indies were 80 for 1.
“Rangana (Herath) has enough experience and he showed his masterclass again.”
Veteran Herath finished with four for 56 and Siriwardana took three for 25 to wreck the tourists, for whom Darren Bravo played a lone hand with 61. The West Indies slipped to 138 for nine before the last-wicket pair of Kemar Roach (13) and Jomel Warrican (20 not out) put on 33 runs to hand a batting lesson to their teammates.
Sri Lanka, who had won the first Test in Galle by an innings and six runs, clinched the trophy named after West Indies great Garfield Sobers and former Sri Lankan captain Michael Tissera.Herath finished with 15 wickets in the series to take his tally to 293, nearing the 300-wicket mark previously achieved by only two Sri Lankan bowlers -- world record holder Muttiah Muralitharan and Chaminda Vaas.
When play resumed after the entire fourth day had been washed out, the overnight pair of Bravo and Shai Hope easily negotiated the Sri Lankan bowlers to carry the score to 80-1. Siriwardana broke the 60-run stand by having Hope stumped for 35 soon after Bravo had celebrated his half-century with two sixes off Herath. Off-spinner Dilruwan Perera removed Marlon Samuels for six through a catch by Angelo Mathews, before Siriwardana trapped Jermaine Blackwood leg-before for four.
