There was slight drizzle early this morning in Dhaka and the Met department there has predicted rain and thunderstorm ahead of the match. There is also a chance that play might be delayed because of the wet outfield.Kohli said he was happy that he had got a three-week break from the game post the Australia tour.
“It was a good break after a long time. I got time to get away from the game. Rest was important as I was playing non- stop cricket. Every cricketer’s workload is assessed differently. If I play 5 games and if I don’t make runs then my workload will not be that much compared to someone else.
“So, taking all these things into consideration, the physio and everyone felt that I should take a break because in the Asia Cup and World T20, we have to play with full intensity.”The opening game of the Asia Cup T20 could be marred by rain. There was a light drizzle in Dhaka this morning and rain has been forecast ahead of India's clash against hosts Bangladesh at the Shere-e-Bangla Stadium this evening.Kohli was asked about the infamous traffic snarls in Bangladesh but the Indian captain made light of it by saying that he was more focused on the dew factor then traffic.
“We are more concerned about the cricketing conditions than traffic. Wicket does play differently a lot of times, and the dew can make it almost a one-sided game. As for traffic, I just go off to sleep while we are in the bus,Meanwhile, India would keep their fingers crossed and hope for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to take the field in the evening. He was present at both of the team's practice sessions in Fatullah but he did not train.
Virat Kohli said yesterday that Dhoni's absence would affect the balance in the side. Back-up wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel is an opening batsman but India have two in-form openers in Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. The persistent drizzle could also favour the seam bowlers and Bangladesh might just have the edge there. India's batsmen, who have been in superb form this year, were exposed on a green surface in Pune against an inexperienced Sri Lankan pace attack.
