Yesterday was the day for the sub-continental teams, and today was dominated by the two Europe based teams. The tournament is wide open now and tomorrow's matches will be very crucial for all the four teams. Do join us for all the action. For now, cheers and bye..
Borren: 'I thought we did well to chase this target down, could have finished it a bit earlier. The top order batted really well. I thought we dragged them back towards the end, especially pleased with the bowling of Ahsan Malik. We came here to make a statement and this is just a start. We will look to carry on with this momentum. There are some big games coming up, we are looking forward to it.'
Khurram Khan: 'I thought 170-175 would have been a good score. We lost some wickets in the middle overs, they fielded superbly and deserved this victory. We do not consider ourselves as part-timers. We dropped many catches, that cost us in the end. We will take all the positives from this match.'
Cooper: 'It was a good all-round effort from the boys, to get a win under our belt was good. The pitch was outstanding, there was a bit of dew and that helped us. We had a bit of luck to go with, and I guess we out thought them with the ball.'
Tom Cooper is the MoM
A fine victory in the end for Netherlands. They never looked to be in any sort of discomfort during the chase, Myburgh and Swart started well, and Cooper finished it off in style. UAE did not help themselves with several fumbles and they also dropped numerous catches. A professional display from the Europeans and they join Ireland at the top of the group.Brief Scores.
Scorecard: UAE 151 all-out in 19.5 overs (Shaiman Anwar 32, Khurram Khan 31, Ahsan Malik 3/16, Tom Cooper 2/18, Timm van der Gugten 2/21) lost to Netherlands 152/4 in 18.5 overs (Stephan Myburgh 55, Tom Cooper 34*, Michael Swart 26, Kamran Shazad 2/19).
Buildup: Netherlands and UAE eye T20I success
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have not lost a T20 game so far against Netherlands and they will be looking to extend that streak when they take on the Dutch side in the fourth match of the T20 WC Qualifiers. Netherlands were poor in the warm-up games, losing both their matches, and skipper Peter Borren will be hoping for an improved showing from his team in order to make it past the qualifiers. UAE, who won one and lost one, will be eager to register as many wins as possible and boost their chance of making it to the next round.Toss and teams: UAE to bat first.UAE skipper Khurram Khan won the toss and decided to bat first. Tom Cooper, whose inclusion in the Netherlands squad was questioned by Tim Gruijters, made it to the eleven.
