The young Indian batsmen thew their wickets away at crucial junctures as the visitors ended up losing the game by two runs in Harare on Saturday.Dhoni hopes the fresh faces don’t make the same mistakes in the second game here tomorrow.“I feel, though we lost the game — it is disappointing — it is still a learning curve for the youngsters, provided they are learning out of it,” said Dhoni.
“You have to take it in a serious manner because whenever you will represent the country, whenever they get a chance to be part of the proper Indian team for a consistent period of time, they will feel the pressure. That will be the time when a game like this or a tour like this will really help them ease out that pressure,” he said further.
The captain himself failed to get his team over the line as India could not get eight runs off the final over with pacer Neville Madziva holding his nerve. He said he should have completed the job but expected a more sensible approach from his batsmen.
NEW DELHI: India's cricket tour of Zimbabwe was today hit by a massive controversy after an official associated with one of the sponsors of the series was arrested for alleged rape even though he pleaded innocence to the charge.
The storm erupted after the Zimbabwean media reported that an unnamed Indian cricketer had been arrested on charges of rape. The reports stated that India's ambassador to the African nation, R Masakui, had tried to prevent the player's arrest last night at a Harare hotel.
I felt the last ball was brilliant but that is what my job is, so maybe I am the person to finish the job. But at the same time, we kept losing wickets and what happens at that stage is that you are losing wickets and you are giving one dot ball and at the same time, the set batsman is not getting strike.
“I felt the batsmen will have to take the responsibility. The reason being, few of them, they were set, they were batting well. When you are chasing targets, you need to take it to the end and then look to play the shots. That was something that was lacking in this game,” Dhoni pointed out.
The second string squad for the tour was picked in the absence of seniors and Dhoni said the rookie players must make the most of the opportunity. The skipper said he batted at six to give others more time in the middle.

While the batsmen did not show composure required at the highest level, the bowlers, who were given opportunity for the first time on the tour, disappointed.Credit should go to Zimbabwe for their performance after a humiliating loss in the ODIs but they were allowed to play big shots by the erring Indian bowlers to post 170.
All-rounder Rishi Dhawan, representing India for the first time since the Australia tour and making his T20 International debut, put up an ordinary effort leaking 42 runs in four overs.
Pressure was also on pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who was in India colours for the first time in almost three years. Making his debut in the format, Unadkat was not consistent with his line and length and paid the price for it.
It remains to be seen whether he gets another game after ending with figures of 0/43 or Barinder Sran and Dhawal Kulkarni come back to bowl with the new ball, pushing Dhawan out of the eleven too.
Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, who impressed in ODIs, also had an off day and he would be aiming to bounce back strongly.
Ahead of the must-win game, Dhoni warned his men to not repeat the same mistakes in the remaining gamesThough spinner Jayant Yadav was the only one to not get an opportunity in the 16-man squad, Dhoni is expected to get back to his full strength bowling attack.
India did not see the loss coming after a cakewalk in the ODIs, giving Zimbabwe a much-needed morale boost to press for another win.Saturday's clash was a day of memorable moments and important life lessons. Finally, after a week full of disappointments, the hosts finally broke into frenzied celebrations following Neville Madziva's terrific final over, in which he managed to prevent proven match-winner and Indian captain Dhoni from scoring the required four runs off the last ball. The way Madziva pulled out a stump and ran towards long-off a-la Imran Tahir tells you how badly the bottom-ranked Test side have been waiting to celebrate in this manner, given the fact that they have hardly been winning anything in recent times.
The top discussion on social media following Zimbabwe’s upset win was Dhoni — from his ability to finish matches, or captaining the limited-overs side in the first place. Indeed, Dhoni has not been having the best of run in recent times, something that was only compounded by Rising Pune Supergiants' (RPS) second-last finish in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). Although a 3-0 blanking of the hosts in the ODI leg of the ongoing tour wouldn't lend him much credibility, the latest loss has only armed his critics with new barbs to be thrown at him.

Madziva's final over, reminiscent of a similar one by Kagiso Rabada against the same batsman in an ODI last year, has brought up the debate of Dhoni's finishing ability once again, and though a couple of failures will not do much to tarnish his legacy as a finisher par excellence, he will have to soon produce the match-winning performances if he is to preserve that legacy. The BCCI, on its part, refused to comment, claiming that it is yet to ascertain the exact facts of the issue. "We are keeping a close watch on the development. It is a serious issue. Being aware of the sensitive nature of the issue, the BCCI won't make comments without ascertaining facts," said a top Board official on condition of anonymity.

India vs Zimbabwe T20

It was the first time that the Indian youngsters were tested on the tour and faltered at crucial junctures to suffer an unexpected loss.
Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni failed to get his team over the line in the last over but equally culpable were the batsmen, who got out at key moments after getting starts.Manish Pandey made a fluent 48 but like debutant Mandeep Singh, he would have loved to carry on and take the side through.
With Dhoni at the other end and India needing eight off the final over, Axar Patel got out to a loose shot to make life tougher for the visitors.
Hosts Zimbabwe managed to pull off one of the most stunning upsets of the year on Saturday afternoon, in a David vs Goliath clash against India. Zimbabwe, which was decimated by a second-string India in the ODIs preceding the T20 matches, marked a fine comeback by recording a two-run win, their second consecutive T20 win over the Men in Blue.
"Underestimate them at your own peril" is a term that is often reserved for lower-ranked teams in general, sides such as Bangladesh and Ireland in particular. On Saturday, it turned out to be Zimbabwe. The African nation held its nerves till the very last ball of the match, and brought about a much-needed sense of relief and joy to the Harare Sports Club.
On a flat track, seemingly the most batting-friendly one in the whole tour so far, Elton Chigumbura not only ensured Zimbabwe batted their entire quota of overs for the first time in the series, but also took the Indian attack head-on, and ended up winning the battle against them, smashing an unbeaten 54 off just 26 deliveries.
The Indian attack was missing key personnel like Dhawal Kulkarni and Barinder Sran, who had been effective in getting the ball to move early in the innings, but the fact that Chigumbura hammered Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal out of the park is a commendable feat unto itself.NEW DELHI: India's cricket tour of Zimbabwe was today hit by a massive controversy after an official associated with one of the sponsors of the series was arrested for alleged rape even though he pleaded innocence to the charge.
