Raina's credentials as T20 batsman unquestionable Ganguly.MIRPUR: Former India captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Suresh Raina's ability as a T20 batsman is "unquestionable" and his success in the ongoing World T20 will give him confidence to get ready for "bigger battles" ahead. Raina's sequence of scores, including the two warm-up games, are 41, 54, 35 not out and 1 not out and he had credited Ganguly for giving him tips which proved to be invaluable in his recent success.

"I never had any doubts about Suresh's talent and ability. He has always been a class act in shortest format. He is a dangerous T20 batsman and a big threat for any opposition team. I am certainly hopeful that his current form in ICC World T20 will translate into something bigger and better in the coming days," Ganguly said. "There will be tougher battles ahead (England tour in July-September, Australia tour and World Cup) and I would ideally want to him get success in those battles," he said.
Asked about the kind of technical inputs he has given to Raina, Ganguly said, "Yes, I have had interactions with Suresh but what I told him is a very personal thing between two individuals and not for media consumption. He is a colleague and it is my duty to help him if he ever needs any. I am always there to help anyone who needs my advice and I don't believe in making a hue and cry about it. For someone, who had been a mentor to Yuvraj Singh during the early part of his career, Ganguly said people should not read too much into the left-handed batsman's indifferent form at the moment.
"It's only two matches that Yuvraj has not got runs. We should not make a big fuss about it. He is a human being and can go through a tough phase. He has the talent to overcome this. Show me one sportsman who has played at the top level for 14, 15 or 16 years and never had a slump in form? This is bound to happen as that's how the nature of sport is," said Ganguly.
Ganguly said the key was having self belief and willingness to work hard.
"Self belief is always the key and also Yuvi will need to work even harder now. His time will certainly come and he will have to ready to grab his chance then," said Ganguly who has made several comebacks during his illustrious international career. Many people have been talking about how India's pace spearhead Mohammed Shami requires rest as he has played 18 ODIs, one List A, four T20s and six Test matches since October 23 last year. But Ganguly has a different view. Many argue that he is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the shorter formats of the game but only if the team is playing in subcontinental conditions. A very well known weakness, is his shortcoming against the short ball.
This was very clearly exposed during India’s tour of England in 2011 just after his great showing in the World Cup. When the England bowlers saw him struggle against anything near the ribs, the news did not take long to move to other teams. Whenever Raina came out to bat, every fast bowler’s eyes lighted up, and even the medium pacers went for his one great weak spot as they had no qualms in pitching everything short.Against such deliveries Raina is seen hopping as he tries to steer, hook and pull the ball in vain as he is unable to keep his feet on the crease while attempting the shots.
This is something that he is working on very hard, taking bouncers and relentless short pitched bowling in the nets. One must say, that he has improved a lot since the England series as he managed to hook and pull a few deliveries over the boundary line against South Africa in the ODI series that concluded late last year. However, the short ball again, was his downfall as he was unable to play the delivery consistently.

Sri Lanka bowled out the Netherlands for the lowest total in Twenty20 International history in a one-sided World T20 contest in Chittagong. The Dutch were skittled out for 39 in 10.3 overs, with Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis picking up three wickets apiece.Netherlands' 39 is the 2nd lowest total in all T20 cricket after the 3.Netherlands were dismissed for just 39, the lowest total in international Twenty20 history, as Sri Lanka ran riot in Chittagong.Having qualified for the Super 10 stage of the World T20 with a record-breaking run chase against Ireland, Netherlands etched their names in the annals of history for the wrong reasons as they were dismissed in just 10.3 overs for 17 fewer than the previous low watermark set by Kenya last year.
Sri Lanka coasted to victory by nine wickets in just five overs and collected a massive boost to their net run-rate in the process. The rout started immediately, with the Dutch three down for just one after the first two overs. Nuwan Kulasekara removed Stephan Myburgh in a wicket-maiden to start, before Angelo Mathews sent back Michael Swart and Wesley Barresi in successive deliveries in the second over.Captain Peter Borren was Mathews' third wicket, and bagged his side's third duck, when Mathews trapped him lbw.Tom and Ben Cooper added 16 runs for the fifth wicket, temporarily halting the procession, before the latter was run out for eight taking on Thisara Perera's arm.
When elder brother Tom misread Ajantha Mendis to go for 16 it was the end of the resistance, with the next four wickets falling for the addition of just six runs. The Sri Lankan reply was not without incident as Perera was hit on the thumb by Timm Van der Gugten's first ball of the innings and required treatment. He recovered to score 14 off 10 balls but perished lobbing Malik Jamil to mid-on.
A day of abject misery for the Dutch was encapsulated in a horrible dropped catch by Bukhari to reprieve Mahela Jayawardene, who hit the next ball for four before clipping a single to see Sri Lanka over the line. Tillakaratne Dilshan finished 12 not out, with Jayawardene on 11."We never underestimate any team, but the guys did really well and we won the game easily," said Sri Lanka captain Dinesh Chandimal. "We have two more games, so we will keep our fingers crossed we will keep winning."Sri Lanka, who beat South Africa by five runs in their first Super 10 match, top the group with two wins out of two.
They will face England on Thursday at 13:30 GMT after the Netherlands take on South Africa.

Dhaka, Mar 24 : New Zealand, flying under the radar as usual, are a dangerous T20 team. They are in a upbeat mood, having edged out both rain and England to gain their first points on the board. Their bowlers battled back after receiving a pasting at the hands of Moeen Ali and Lumb. Much will depend on the big hitting prowess of Baz and Corey Anderson. Hello and welcome to the first of the double header today. The dreaded C-word has already been thrown at the South African team. The men from the rainbow nation, having messed up all facets against Sri Lanka, will look to strike back to put their T20 Championship campaign back on track. However, they is still a cloud of doubt over the fitness of

Faf du Plessis is fit. He is walking out for the toss.New Zealand have won the toss and have opted to field. Faf du Plessis: 'There is nothing like a fitness test before a game. I am 100% fit. I was going to have a bat anyway. I am happy. I am coming in for Behardien. I was surprised by the way the wicket played the other day. We have some good plans today. I will play at Number 3. AB is destructive, he has that freedom and that is when he is the most dangerous. It is a must win game for me and that is why I have pushed myself.'
Brendon McCcullum: 'We are hoping to build the momentum. It is important to get into the groove and carry on the momentum. We want to bowl first. It looks a pretty good wicket. We played alright in the last game. That funky fields was Nathan's idea. He has to do a big job. These are early days in the tournament, I will have to make a significant contribution.'It’s set for a 9:30 a.m. GMT start time (11:30 a.m. SAST, 10:30 p.m. NZDT).
The game will be broadcast live on SuperSport in South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa; SKY TV in New Zealand; Fox Sports or Channel 9 in Australia; and STAR Sports in Bangladesh and the rest of the Indian Sub-Continent (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan). It will also be broadcast on OSN Sport Cricket in North Africa and the Middle East; SKY Sports in the U.K., Wales, Ireland, Scotland; Europort in the rest of Europe; and ESPN in parts of the Caribbean, South America, Central America, Mexico, and the United States.Live streaming for some games in the tournament is available on Sky’s Now TV app, StarSports.com, WatchESPN, PTV.com, SuperSport.com, and MTVsports.lk. "But you can't take it to the last over against such a quality bowler like Dale Steyn."With a little bit of luck we would have got across the line, but credit to South Africa."

Australia and Pakistan face off in the T20 World Cup international cricket series on Sunday, March 23, 2014. The 2014 ICC World Twenty20 live stream cricket schedule continues Sunday with two games on the docket. The first game will feature Pakistan vs Australia followed by India taking on West Indies. The T20 Series may have just begun, but every game is huge for these teams as they can quickly climb or fall in the rankings. Cricket fans here in America will be able to catch all of this great ICC live streaming cricket action thanks to ESPN and ESPN3.
Australia: The one trophy missing from their rather elaborate trophy cabinet, Australia, boasting of one of the strongest sides in the tournament, go into the go into their opening T20 WC encounter against Pakistan hoping to get their campaign off to the perfect start. Even with their hero in recent times, Mitchell Johnson, missing out through injury Australia side posses a host of players who can change the course of the game in a flash.David Warner leads the batting charges, and no one needs any reminding of the amount of damage he can do on his day. Add to this the likes of Aaron Finch, George Bailey, Shane Watson and Brad Hodge and it translates to tons of runs for the side. Their bowling too boasts of quality with Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Doug Bollinger and James Faulker lending the pace department an experienced and potent feel.
If there is one department that the Aussies will want a little more depth it would be a quality back up to the aging Brad Hogg. The left-armer can be a handful when he hits form, but Australia will have to rely on him heavily to deliver the goods on what would usually be helpful wickets. Also, the fact that Australia are placed in a group with teams that are extremely comfortable against spin will make Hogg's job all the more tougher.
Key for success: Australia opening combination is as devastating as they come. In David Warner and Aaron Finch, they have two big-hitting batsmen in the form of their lives. If the duo get off to a strong start, Australia could easily amass huge totals.
Pakistan: Ear marked as one of the teams to watch out for pre-tournament, Pakistan's odds have dipped considerably after being walloped by South Africa in the warm-up and then by India in the opening game of the tournament. Despite their lack of form, Australia would make a huge folly by writing off a team like Pakistan. They have always carried a notorious reputation for being unpredictable and if they get their act together, they can blow away an opposition as easily as they sometimes capitulate.
Pakistan's last game went nothing according to plan - The batsmen barring, to some extent, Umar Akmal and Shoaib Maqsood failed to come good as they were restricted to a sub-par 130 by India. And their bowlers could do little but delay the inevitable as India cantered to an easy 7-wicket win. While the West Indies team will also be making their debut in the series, India will look to move to 2-0 and stay on top on the Group 2 standings. India defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets and was impressive in doing so. India is heavily favored to win this series at 3/1 odds. Team Australia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand are also high on the odds board to take home the series trophy, while the least likely to win the T20 series is the Netherlands at 200/1.
Australia (Playing XI): David Warner, Aaron Finch, Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey(c), Brad Hodge, Brad Haddin(w), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Brad Hogg, Doug Bollinger
Pakistan (Playing XI): Ahmed Shehzad, Kamran Akmal(w), Mohammad Hafeez(c), Umar Akmal, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sohaib Maqsood, Bilawal Bhatti, Umar Gul, Saeed Ajmal, Zulfiqar Babar.
Hafeez: 'This is an important tournament for us. We have to play attacking and aggressive cricket. We should express ourselves. The pitch will grip a little bit, it will suit spin. I think the pitch is still the same, the toss does not make much of a difference. We will have to bat well and let the spinners do the rest. We have one change with Zulfiqar Babar coming in for Junaid, keeping in view the conditions.'
