ASia Cup India Vs Pakistan News India lacks quality spinners Harbhajan Singh

Asia Cup India Vs Pakistan News India lacks quality spinners Harbhajan Singh.NEW DELHI: Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said on Saturday that there was a lack of quality spinners in the domestic circuit."Well, to be honest, I haven't seen any great talent who can actually give the ball a tweak, one who can take wickets on any surface. We need to set up academies. There is a lot of talent in the country, we just need to tap it. Spin bowling is an art but there is definite dearth of quality spinners at present in the domestic circuit," Bhajji told reporters.

Harbhajan said it was good for a spinner to have variations but one should stick to basics. India's frontline spinners, especially R Ashwin, haven't had things going for them, and Bhajji had a measured take on it. "Well, I don't want to comment on a player who is playing with the India team. I wish him the best of luck. He will surely be back among the wickets. But variations are fine though you need to bowl your stock delivery and should turn it. An off-break bowler's stock delivery is his off-spinning delivery."  In recent times, Ashwin has drawn criticism for trying too many things to no avail, including even changing his action.
The veteran, who has taken 694 international wickets across the three formats of the game, says more needs to be done to develop the art of spin."Somewhere I feel we need to develop spinners by having more academies. We need to find out the talent from smaller towns. I have not seen anyone come up in the last 8-10 years," said Harbhajan.Ravichandran Ashwin has been criticised often for too many variations in his bowling.
"No matter how many variations you have, you got to have a stock ball at the end of the day. People still get out the same way as they did 10-20 years ago. Whether you hold the ball across the seam or from the seam, you have to bowl spin."It is good to have variations but you should not forget your identity. Kapil dev had an outswinger, Dayle Steyn too has that weapon. Likewise, spinners should be able to spin the ball."

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2014 Team News Umar Gul’s chance to go for the glory

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2014 Team News Umar Gul’s chance to go for the glory. When India take on their arch rivals Pakistan in Asia Cup 2014, they would be up against a familiar face who has constantly played against them over the years in seamer, Umar Gul. The right-arm seamer, built like an edifice and known for bowling toe crushing yorkers at slithery speed and generating disconcerting bounce on his day is a vital cog in the Pakistan attack. With 121 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) under his belt, Pakistan would look up to him to steer the ship to safety when they find themselves in tatters. With the ever-reliable Gul by his side, Misbah-ul-Haq, the captain of Pakistan, needn’t have to depend on a prayer before every ball is bowled.

Both teams have their weaknesses. It will depend who play on that given day and learn from their mistakes. It’s going to be a close match, whoever plays well tomorrow will win. Both teams are very good. I’m expecting a good game tomorrow,” he said.Zaheer said that Pakistan would approach the match with a free mind and would retain the same side that won against Afghanistan in the last match.“The top two teams of Asia would be playing tomorrow. You all know how intense it becomes in an India-Pakistan match… It seems the whole world is watching you. Everybody wants a good score and result. India will want their team to win and it will be the same case for Pakistan as well.
“Everyone wants to give their 100 per cent in an India-Pakistan match. It’s going to be a good contest. It’s after all a healthy and sporting rivalry. You cannot predict anything at the moment. We will see tomorrow what will be the result.”Pakistan’s players trained on Saturday, while the Indians - barring Varun Aaron and Cheteshwar Pujara - didn’t.
Spinners have more or less similar records in Fatullah and Mirpur, but the quicker bowlers have done distinctly better at the Shere Bangla National Stadium. India have Aaron and Ishwar Pandey to choose between for that third seamer’s slot, but the amount of time Aaron spent bowling on Saturday suggests he might have a role to play.Often, the contest boils down to desperation. And India are clearly the more desperate side, after series defeats in South Africa and New Zealand.  They have a volley of issues to be redressed. The batting, particularly the middle-order, has been inconsistent. The bowling has fallen apart and fielding has gone from bad to worse.
A visibly agitated captain, Virat Kohli, pointed out that they have not been playing smart cricket. They could have scored 25-30 runs more against Sri Lanka, which they didn’t, after a fine start. The shot-selection has been abysmal. Rohit Sharma’s ebbing form has begun to hurt the team, though Shikhar Dhawan is back to his best.
The mainstay, without MS Dhoni, is Kohli, whom India have been relying too much without grasping that he can’t single-handedly win every match. Kohli, though, reckons otherwise. “People bat around me in the middle order because others are inexperienced,” he logics. They will need more definitive contributions from the likes of Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik. Moreover, the lack of a quality all-rounder continues to hurt the team’s balance. The latest experiment, Stuart Binny, too hasn’t shown much promise. Hence, they are in a dilemma, whether to go with five specialist bowlers or with the extra batsman. Leaving out a bowler will make the inexperienced bowling line-up look leaner.

The battle is much more than just one team vs the other, it is also a test of skill for 25-year-old Kohli and 39-year-old Misbah in this battle of newbie and old guard. It's the young captain against the experienced old guard. Unpredictability is a characteristic of Pakistan's cricket and the way their temperamental players play will determine who wins the match.Fans will be hoping for an awesome game of cricket where runs are scored and wickets taken truly making it a match worth watching on a Sunday. India would also look to improve their fielding, especially after four dropped catches and one missed stumping against Sri Lanka. Pakistan, too, face similar batting woes and the onus would be on skipper Misbah-ul-Haq to start fresh after his farcical run out without even facing a ball.

Fatullah:  Sri Lanka might have put one step in the final of the Asia Cup with their second win in as many matches, but skipper Angelo Mathews said they would take one game at a time and look to get better. "We have been winning those close games once again... it was a nervous games. We have been doing those little things right. We got to play better cricket to win against stronger teams. Today it could have been a bit easier than what it was. The middle order collapsed and made it hard for the lower order to finish," Mathews said after their two-wicket victory here.
